Home Support Program

Home Support provides personal care and other home support services to those who are not able to perform these duties without assistance. Home Support assists people to remain independent and in their own homes as long as possible.

Meals on Wheels

Meals on wheels provides tasty, nutritious hot meals that are delivered to your home. Our aim is to promote wellness and independence to those in need of nutritional support.

All meals are prepared from fresh ingredients with quality as the top priority and the menu is varied and well balanced to promote good nutrition. Special considerations are made in the preparation of the meals to ensure low salt and diabetic needs are met.

Who Qualifies for Meals on Wheels?

  • You are living in the Nakusp Area
  • You, for any reason, have difficulty preparing daily meals
  • You are recovering from illness, injury or surgery

Meal Service: Meals are delivered by volunteers between noon and 1 pm on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

Cost of Meals:  Meals cost $7.00 each, billed monthly

What do the Meals include?  Entree, soup of the day, salad, bun/bread and dessert.

Food Bank

Community-donated food for those in need – Friday 10 am to noon.

Requested use – once per month. Service area – Trout Lake, Edgewood, Fauquier, Burton, Nakusp, Summit Lake.

Christmas Hampers also available.

The food bank also accepts financial donations through Arrow & Slocan Lakes Community Services. (Tax receipt available).

Safe Home

The Safe Home Program provides safe, confidential, and free temporary housing to women (and their children) fleeing violence or the risk of violence. The service is available 24 hours/day, 7 days/week.

This program gives women a safe and supportive living environment with access to daily living requirements such as clothing, toiletries, and nutritious meals. Safe Home also provides transportation, accompaniment, and advocacy support, as well as assisting clients in accessing financial assistance, legal aid, and or affordable housing. Safe Home can also provide resource information to enable women to explore their options and define their goals as well as assist with the development of safety plans.

The Safe Home Program is available in Nakusp and all surrounding areas including Edgewood, Fauquier, Burton, Trout Lake, Summit Lake, Hills, New Denver and Silverton.
