RCMP Victim / Witness Service
The Nakusp RCMP Victim Witness Service unit has been in operation since 1989, providing information and support services to victims and witnesses of all types of crime.
Nakusp & Area RCMP victim service is free and available to victims of all crime within the policing jurisdictions of the Nakusp and Slocan Lake RCMP Detachments. That includes: Nakusp, New Denver, Silverton, Slocan, Appledale, Winlaw, Arrow Park, Trout Lake, Burton, Fauquier, Edgewood and anywhere in between.
Information, referrals, police and court updates, emotional support, and court preparation and accompaniment are available upon request.

Police and Court File Updates
Staff can provide you with information about the status of your police and/or court file as it proceeds through the criminal justice system.
Court Support Services
Courtroom personnel and their duties are explained in detail and your questions are answered relating to the courtroom and court procedures. The victim services program manager is available to accompany you when you have to appear in court.
Referrals to police, criminal justice practitioners, counsellors, social service agencies, self-help groups, etc., are given to anyone who calls and asks for assistance.
Practical Assistance with criminal injury compensation forms and victim impact statements.
