Programs for Children

“There can be no keener revelation of a society’s soul than the way in which it treats its children.” - Nelson Mandela

Each day of our lives we make deposits in the memory banks of our children. We have a responsibility to every person in our community to ensure that our children have access to services that will help them learn and understand the complexity of our society and how to live with balance, honesty, and integrity.

Arrow and Slocan Lakes Community Services offers programs for children that support the family and ensures they have the tools and understanding to grow through all the potential events of everyday life.

SAFE KIDS and YOUTH (SKY) Coordinated Response

SKY is ‘made in the West Kootenay’ and the goal is a more seamless response to child/youth abuse that reduces the potential for re-traumatization.

THE SAFE HOME PROGRAM

Provides safe, confidential, and free temporary housing to women (and their children) fleeing from abuse or risk of abuse. The service is available 24/7.

THE FOOD BANK

Children deserve to eat healthy and nutritious meals on a regular and consistent basis. The Food Bank is open 8:30 am to 4:30pm to help alleviate hunger and to serve children and families who are in need.

MEDICAL BUS

We offer a variety of schedules that can help to get you where you need to go.

THE COMMUNITY ACTION PROGRAM FOR CHILDREN

The CAP-C program supports and works with families to promote the health and well being of infants and young children.

CHILDREN & YOUTH COUNSELLING

Arrow and Slocan Lakes Community Services offers counselling services for the benefit of children’s mental emotional, and behavioral difficulties.

Breakfast Program

The Breakfast Program provides nutrition to children five days a week at both schools. Nutrition is needed in order to be attentive and learn in a classroom.
